The Dublin City (Regular School District) Board of Education held a public meeting on retire‑and‑rehire arrangements for multiple employees and said it will not take action at the June 12 session.
An unidentified board representative opened the hearing and said, “The board will not take any action on this issue this evening.” The board cited Section 3307.353 of the Ohio Revised Code as the authority requiring a public meeting before reemploying retirees in the same positions.
The board published notice on April 25 and May 6 listing specific staff who are considering retirement and seeking reemployment in the same positions. The April 25 notice named Superintendent Dr. John Marshhausen as considering retirement on or about Aug. 1, 2025, and seeking reemployment as superintendent following service retirement. The notice also named Mike Uhlring, director of secondary building leadership and professional development, and teacher David Stroh as considering retirement prior to the 2025–26 school year and seeking reemployment in their same roles. The May 6 notice listed Cathy Parker Jones, preK–12 coordinator of digital and personalized learning, and teachers Lisa Crimmel, Tracy Guren, Lisa Guzik, Chad Eisley, Deb Maynard, Sue Neely, Terry Ray, Molly Sestelli and Matt Tisdale.
The board said it must wait at least 15 days after the public meeting to act. An unidentified board representative told the room the board expects to consider reemployment for Dr. Marshhausen, Mr. Uhlring and Mr. Stroh at the next board meeting on June 26, 2025; the board said it anticipates considering the reemployment of the other listed employees at a subsequent meeting.
No members of the public were recorded as speaking during the allotted public‑comment period for this item. The representative said the district held the hearing to meet the statutory requirement and invited public comments but did not take testimony that led to an immediate decision.
Because the board has not taken formal action at this meeting, no hires, rehires or motions were approved or defeated related to the retire‑and‑rehire notices.
