Inyo County approves replacement dump trucks for road department after bid questions

The Inyo County Board of Supervisors approved the road department’s purchase of two dump trucks during the May 27 consent-item discussion after the board pulled item 19 for questions.
Shannon Platt, deputy director of Public Works, said the county solicited bids and received responses that ultimately allowed purchase of two trucks. Platt told the board the purchase will allow the county to retire two 25-year-old 10-yard dump trucks.
Supervisor Jeff Griffiths asked about the bid window and a 25% contingency for levies included in the bid and whether the price was locked. Platt said the salesperson told staff the price was still valid as of the prior week. After discussion, the board voted in favor of the purchase.
This action came from the consent agenda after members pulled the item for discussion; no subsequent amendment to the purchase was reported at the meeting.
