The Cabarrus County Board of Education approved the district's local AIG plan Monday after a presentation and a period for public feedback.
District staff told the board they had not received public questions about the proposal leading up to the meeting. The plan, which the board reviewed in detail at a previous session, was presented again so the public and board could offer any final comments.
"I move we approve the plan as presented," said a board member prior to the formal motion; the chair then announced a motion by Board Member Sam Treadaway and a second by Board Member Pamela Escobar to approve the local AIG plan. The board voted in favor and the chair declared the motion passed.
The approved plan affects district services for academically or intellectually gifted students; district staff said the proposal could impact several thousand children and families, and the board noted that public opportunity to comment had been provided at the presentation and in the public comment period.
No amendments to the plan were recorded in open session at the time of approval.
