The Hastings Planning Commission on May 20 recommended annexing a 0.5-acre tract located southeast of Fisherman Lane and Outrigger Avenue and approved the final plat for the Cimarron Meadows addition, sending both actions forward to the City Council.
Amber, a city staff member, told the commission the parcel is undeveloped, contiguous to city limits and shown on the Future Land Use Map as high-density residential intended to transition from low-density residential to nearby commercial uses. The parcel is zoned CP3 (Commercial Business Planned District), which staff said is compatible with smaller lots and setbacks proposed by the developer.
Amber summarized the final plat process and recommended approval, saying the site “can be served by existing infrastructure” and that the proposal “generally conforms to the comprehensive plan.” With no public opposition or applicant testimony at the hearing, the commission voted unanimously to recommend annexation and to approve the Cimarron Meadows final plat: annexation passed 7 to 0; the final plat passed 7 to 0.
The approval advances the applicant’s plan to create buildable lots consistent with the city’s land-use framework and allows the city and developer to proceed with required subdivision and development steps. Staff said the annexation and platting will follow the city’s standard process and will proceed to City Council for ordinance adoption and final recording.
