The Lebanon Board of Public Works and Safety on June 9 authorized two construction contracts tied to the city's 180 makeover/downtown building projects and postponed a separate lead remediation award.
Kevin Kralik presented three procurement recommendations tied to historic downtown properties. For masonry tuckpointing at the Acmeid/Lido building downtown, Kralik said the lowest responsive quote came from Top Notch Masonry for $67,914 and recommended the city enter a contract "not to exceed $67,914, subject to legal review and authorizing the mayor to execute that contract." The board approved the contract by motion and voice vote.
Kralik said the board should delay awarding lead remediation work to ensure procurement compliance, and he asked that the item be returned for consideration at the June 23 meeting. "We're just not ready for that," he said. The board agreed to table the lead remediation award.
For window replacement on the north side of the Eichmann Exchange, Kralik said Whitaker Glass submitted the lowest responsive quote of $36,100. He recommended authorization to enter a contract for that amount, subject to legal review and the mayor's execution. The board approved the window contract by motion and voice vote.
Why it matters: The work supports downtown building preservation and ongoing revitalization activities under city programs. Kralik said some projects already have Historic Preservation Commission approvals for murals or architectural work and that staff is coordinating legal review and contract execution.
Next steps: Staff will complete legal review and execute contracts; the lead remediation contract will be returned for board consideration at a later meeting.
