Commission continues batch revocation of inactive use permits to consult city attorney

The Santa Fe Springs Planning Commission continued consideration of a proposal to revoke a batch of use permits for properties no longer operating, allowing staff time to consult the city attorney before the commission acts.
Senior Planner Vince Velasco told the commission the permits "run with the land" and that staff needs additional time to prepare reports and legal review. "These are permits that are uses that are no longer operating. However, we just need a little bit more time to run these reports by our city attorney's office, and we'll bring this back before you in July," Velasco said.
The public hearing was opened at 6:24 p.m.; no members of the public spoke to the continuance. A motion to continue the item to the July 14, 2025 Planning Commission meeting carried on a unanimous roll‑call vote. Velasco said the revocation process is administrative and intended to discontinue permits that no longer correspond to active uses.
The commission set the item for the July 14 meeting to allow staff to complete the legal review and prepare the revocation reports.
