The Moorhead City Council opened a public hearing on June 9 to review draft priorities for the city’s 2025–2029 consolidated plan and the 2025 annual action plan for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.
Tanya Coonta, a city staff member, told the council that the City of Moorhead “has been awarded $356,693 in CDBG funds for 2025 and has program income from its revolving loan program that can be reinvested in eligible activities.” Coonta also said future CDBG funding is subject to congressional approval.
Coonta summarized that the presentation would outline draft priorities and projects for the consolidated five‑year plan and the 2025 annual action plan; no council action was required at the June 9 meeting. The council voted to open the public hearing earlier in the agenda; the motion to open was moved by Council Member Heather Niesmeyer, seconded by Ryan Nelson, and carried with the council’s voice vote.
Coonta invited public comment and said staff would continue to develop the draft plan and projects for consideration in subsequent meetings. The hearing remains open for the council process; staff did not present a final allocation or vote on specific projects at the June 9 meeting.
