NORTHEAST INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT ' The Board of Trustees voted 5-2 to approve edited eighth-grade human sexuality and abuse-prevention (HSAE) instructional materials recommended by the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) and the CHASE subcommittee.
SHAC chair Tony Kamen and CHASE chair Christy Burgett explained the review process: committee members met repeatedly to edit teacher guides, student note-taking guides, scripted teacher tools and videos. Burgett told the board the committee considered community feedback, alignment with state TEKS and earlier work for other grade levels when proposing edits.
