Cheryl, the town communications director, told the Speedway Town Council on June 9 that Rockin' on Main drew an estimated 12,000 guests this year and more than 60 vendors, marking multi-year growth that organizers say boosted business for Main Street establishments.
Cheryl said vendor participation grew from about 12 in 2022 to more than 60 in 2025 and that the town received roughly 40 pieces of media coverage in April and May that highlighted Speedway. Sponsorship commitments reached $32,000 this year; Cheryl also reported in-kind savings from a contracted production vendor she estimated at roughly $50,000.
She said the event experienced "growing pains" during vendor setup despite no-parking signage and staggered arrival times; multiple cars were towed and some streets backed up, creating a temporary safety concern. Cheryl said she is reviewing logistics with department heads and volunteers to reduce towing and congestion in future years.
Cheryl told council she worked 168 additional hours over April and May to plan Rockin' on Main and urged that the town consider creating a non-reverting fund dedicated to the event so sponsorship dollars would remain allocated for Rockin' instead of rolling into the general fund. She said one sponsor withdrew because the town could not guarantee sponsorship dollars would be held for the event if not placed in a dedicated fund.
Council members thanked staff and volunteers and praised the event's growth and positive media attention.
