Council approves names for new Mill Mountain trail sections

Roanoke City Council on June 2 adopted a resolution approving names for newly constructed Mill Mountain trail segments proposed by the Parks Foundation. The names approved by council include a set of trail names the Parks Foundation submitted for the new quarter-mile segments and connectors.
Vice Mayor McGuire and other council members thanked the Parks Foundation and donors for raising funds to support trail construction and described the openings as improving access to Mill Mountain. Council adopted the naming resolution by roll call without amendment.
The resolution authorizes the city manager or designee to take further actions as necessary to implement the trail names. Council members noted the work is underway and expressed appreciation for volunteer and philanthropic contributions that enabled the project.
The naming resolution passed on a unanimous roll-call vote of council members present.
