The Johnson County Board of Commissioners on June 9 approved requests for staff travel to the Guardianship/Conservator National Investigator Training in Oklahoma City in October 2025. Lauren Ryanerson, identified in the meeting as a director, said she would attend with her assistant director and one volunteer and that funding for the trip was available.
A commissioner approved the travel request by motion and the board carried the item by voice vote. During the discussion the board noted it is "looking at limiting out of state travel on some of these conferences going forward," and staff asked whether they should proceed with arrangements. A commissioner replied, "No. No. You're fine," and later reiterated the board will begin to review out-of-state conference travel.
The motion carried; the transcript does not record a roll-call vote or the specific funding line-item that will cover the travel expenses. Commissioners did not adopt a new travel policy at the meeting but signaled forthcoming review.
