Suffern promotes Officer Julio Veras to detective

The promotion was introduced by Chief Lachlan as one of two personnel items on the special meeting agenda. The chief noted that Veras joined the Suffern Police Department in 2021, previously served with the New York City Police Department and, in 2023, "passed the extremely rigorous selection process for and subsequently became a member of the Rockland County React team." The chief also said Veras graduated from John Jay College of Criminal Justice with a bachelor of science in forensic science.
Mayor Curley said Veras "cares about the community" and that the chief had made "a fine choice." Trustee Alpert moved to authorize the promotion and Trustee Osborne seconded the motion. The board approved the promotion by voice vote; the motion passed.
