The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted a resolution recognizing World Elder Abuse Awareness Day for June 15, 2025.

The resolution notes older adults’ contributions as leaders and volunteers, recalls the international proclamation by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse in 2006, and affirms the county’s Department of Health and Human Services’ collaborative role — across public health, social services and behavioral health — in addressing elder mistreatment and raising community awareness.

County staff and community partners attending the meeting thanked the board for the recurring recognition and noted local awareness and services for elder abuse prevention. The board encouraged citizens and partner organizations to promote awareness and support efforts to protect vulnerable older adults in Forsyth County.
