Board approves MOU with ESC and summer special-education contract with Reach Educational Services LLC

The Pickerington Local School District Board of Education approved two items affecting instructional and special-education services: a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Educational Service Center (ESC) and a contract with Reach Educational Services LLC to provide extended-school-year (ESY) special-education services for summer 2025.

Board members voted to approve the MOU with the ESC after it was presented as a discussion/action item. The motion passed on roll call; Mrs. Olszewski, Mrs. Niekamp and Mr. Postage were recorded as voting yes. The board also approved a contract with Reach Educational Services LLC to provide educationally related extended-school-year services for summer 2025. That motion likewise passed by roll call.

The ESC MOU and the Reach contract were presented as discrete agenda items. The Reach contract covers providers for ESY services during summer 2025; the board approved the contract authorizing the district to secure the provider for the upcoming summer program. No dollar amounts were read aloud during the motion; procurement and program implementation details were to be handled by district staff.

Also discussed in a separate “discussion only” section were job-description updates and an administrative organizational chart change, including coordinator-level assignments for instructional technology and assessment. Those job-description items were read for information and not acted on as part of the contracts vote.
