Board approves asphalt project and portable-restroom installation; restroom award draws split vote

That motion passed 4–1; one board member voted no, citing concerns about other campus maintenance needs such as repainting and repair of existing portable-classroom exteriors and doors.
During discussion a board member noted the visible condition of portable-classroom exteriors at several schools and expressed a preference to prioritize those repairs; district staff acknowledged the condition concerns and the need to balance restroom needs with other site repairs. Staff noted the restroom installations are tied to new classroom/TK placements and site needs.
Both contract awards were approved by recorded roll-call votes and are on the district’s project list for implementation.
