Flathead County commissioners on May 9 approved a letter of engagement with Jekola Engineering & Architecture PC for building design and construction-administration services related to a Road Department salt-sand storage building at Fox Pitt.

Road Department representative Dave Punte said the project is a smaller pole-barn concept (50 feet by 50 feet) with eco block walls to cover salt and sand for the Big Fork area; Jekola previously designed the county’s other salt-sand buildings. Punte characterized the building as the final salt-sand facility for that program and said it would improve storage and protect materials from weather.

Commissioners moved to sign the engagement letter; the motion carried by voice vote with no recorded opposition. The transcript does not include the contract value or estimated construction schedule.
