Flathead County commissioners on May 9 approved the county’s annual noxious-weed control agreement with the Montana Department of Transportation.
Chris Masters, Flathead County Weed, Parks and Recreation director, told the commissioners the agreement is the department’s largest contract for spring roadside work. He said the payment was increased from $75,000 to $85,000 last year and that all other contract terms remain the same. The county attorney reviewed the agreement, Masters said, and he asked the board to approve so the department could begin work in July.
A commissioner thanked the weed department, saying that as they travel across the state it appears Flathead County does a strong job of keeping weeds down on highways. Masters said the county maintains a good statewide reputation for roadside weed control.
Commissioners moved to sign the contract and approved it by voice vote with no recorded opposition. The transcript does not show a line-item on how the $85,000 is itemized within the county budget or whether the payment is annual or paid in installments within the fiscal year.
