The Carson City School District Board of Trustees on May 27 voted to approve two health curriculum resources reviewed by the Family Life Advisory Committee for inclusion in the district's family-life curriculum.
Sheila Story, the committee chair and the district's chief nurse, told trustees the committee met four times and recommended two resources after reviewing material the middle school requested about signs and symptoms of pregnancy. "If they do want their child not to participate in all of it or part of it, they can do so, and other curriculum will be given to them," Story said, describing the district's opt-out process and alternative assignments.
