The Village of Palos Park council awarded a $6,680 contract June 9 to L & R Trenching to lower the outlet of a pond that drains into the storm sewer on 90 First Street, a change staff said will increase pond capacity and relieve flooding on Elm Street and nearby properties.
Public Works presented three proposals: Sunset Sewer & Water at $7,155, Anchor Heavy Civil at $9,600, and L & R Trenching at $6,680. Commissioner Patan moved to award the work to L & R Trenching as the lowest responsive bidder; the council approved the motion by unanimous roll call.
Staff described the work as lowering the outlet of the pond serving the 90 First Street drainage basin and said the change is expected to reduce flooding on Elm Street and properties between Elm and 90 First. The council recorded no amendments and did not direct additional study or design changes.
