The Rolla City Council voted to award a $179,826 contract to Meyer Electric Company to install street lighting on Pine Street from 12th to 18th streets.
Darren, city staff overseeing the Pine Street project, presented the bid results and said Meyer Electric was the low bidder. Staff recommended authorizing the mayor to execute a contract with Meyer Electric for $179,826 for Project 517 (Pine Street Lighting). Darren noted the lighting fixtures and poles will match those on Kings Highway.
Council members asked whether the lights would provide pedestrian lighting on the west side of Pine Street near the university. Darren said the contract covers vehicle-oriented street lighting and does not include shorter pedestrian fixtures on the west side because the city lacks right-of-way there. Staff confirmed the lighting component is funded through TDD funds within the larger Pine Street project and that, while this bid was higher than originally budgeted for the lighting line item, overall the Pine Street project remains within its TDD budget because other categories were underspent.
A motion to award the bid to Meyer Electric carried on a voice vote; council instructed the mayor to execute the agreement and staff will proceed with contract administration and installation.
