Council concurs with finance committee on grant, contract supplements and property option for parkland

Key approvals included: acceptance of a $412,500 grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office with a $137,500 local match (total project $550,000) for the Panther Creek at Talbot Road South Culvert replacement project; approval of supplement No. 3 to contract CAG 22‑164 with Pertit Incorporated in the amount of $1,454,268.03 for continued construction management for the Rainier Avenue South Corridor Improvements Phase 4 project plus a related budget adjustment; authorization to execute an option‑to‑purchase agreement for 2712 Duval Avenue NE at a total option cost of $2,000 to support May Creek Greenway and a future Northeast Renton Park; authorization of amendment No. 1 to contract CAG 24147 with the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services in the amount of $2,958,967 and approval of additional funding of $1,440,442 to complete McKinstry Energy Services Company Phase 4 energy efficiency upgrades; and an appropriation of $42,044.24 for elevator repairs following arson damage, bringing the Schindler/Eltek Systems contract total to $82,132.32 for repair of elevator car No. 2 at the City Center parking garage.
All items were presented in the finance committee report and the council concurred by motion (moved by Council Member Perez and seconded in each case), with motions carrying by voice vote. The meeting record lists budget sources or funding notes for some items: the Duval Avenue parcel acquisition will be funded by moving money from the Northeast Renton Park budget and park mitigation funds already budgeted in 2025; the Panther Creek project includes a specified local match; and numbering and contract identifiers were recorded for the Rainier Avenue contract and energy efficiency contract.
Why it matters: the approvals authorize near‑term construction work, property acquisition for parkland conservation, completion of energy efficiency upgrades at city facilities, and repairs needed after an arson incident in a downtown parking garage.
