District reports referendum construction progress; court of projects moving into construction and Doty Elementary bids awarded

Facilities staff updated the board on the status of projects funded through the district’s 2022 and 2024 referendums at the June 9 meeting, reporting that most 2022 projects have begun construction and that several 2024 projects have moved into bidding and design.
Staff said all 2022 referendum construction projects except one are in the construction phase; the remaining bid is for an expansion to the district distribution center at ASB, with bidding to open on the 19th of the month. The ASB site (identified during the meeting as 1210 Guns Road) houses the district kitchen, storage and vehicle fleet and serves as the main distribution hub, staff said.
Work tied to the 2024 referendum is also advancing. Staff reported phase‑1 bidding is nearly complete and design work has started for phase‑2 projects including Beaumont and Lincoln. Doty Elementary’s consolidation and expansion opened for bid and received more than 90 bids, staff said; awarded alternates included a generator upgrade, solar, and a longer‑term flooring solution.
The board asked about specific projects. Facilities staff said roofing work is phased by sections on buildings and that current roofing materials are expected to have a 20‑ to 30‑year lifespan; sections replaced within the last decade are not expected to need replacement now. The West grandstand project was reported as tracking to be finished by July 4.
Board members praised the work of the facilities and construction teams and asked staff to return with further completion details in future updates.
No new capital authorizations were made at the June 9 meeting; the presentation was an operational update.
