Board adopts aggressive academic target and approves 2025–26 testing schedule

Superintendent Dr. Monica Kelsey Brown proposed elevating the district’s academic goal: she asked the board to aim for every district school to “significantly exceed expectations” on the Wisconsin State accountability report card by 2029. The proposal, presented as a refinement to Priority Goal No. 1, builds on curriculum adoptions, professional development partnerships (including work with CESA 2), new principal points of contact and the district’s continuous-improvement structures.
“I am advocating for revising our current academic achievement target to aim for all of our school buildings to significantly exceed expectations on the Wisconsin State accountability report card by 2029,” Dr. Brown said. She described district-level investments in professional learning, intervention systems and leadership capacity as the basis for the more ambitious target.
The board discussed the ambition of the goal and emphasized continuous improvement even if the target is not fully met. The curriculum committee had approved the goal 3–0 to send it to the full board.
Separately, the board approved the district’s testing schedule for 2025–26, a routine item that sets assessment dates and administrative procedures for state and district testing programs.
