McCracken County Fiscal Court on June 9 read and approved Ordinance No. 2025‑08, the proposed operating budget for fiscal year 2025–26, with a combined total of $109,772,410 across all funds.
The ordinance was presented as prepared in compliance with Kentucky Revised Statutes Chapter 68. The budget summary presented line-item totals for multiple funds, including a general fund total of $16,479,126; a road fund total of $4,672,727; a jail fund total of $9,927,992; and a sports complex project fund totaling $56,005,000, with a grand total of $109,772,410.
During discussion the court said the FY2025–26 budget is not a deficit budget and praised staff for financial management that reduced deficit spending over the past five years. Officials said the county’s revenues have improved and the county remains one of the lower-taxed counties in the region.
A motion to adopt the ordinance was made, and the court proceeded with the vote. The clerk certified the ordinance summary would be available for public inspection in the McCracken County Judge Executive’s office during ordinary business hours.
The ordinance record included fund-level details for benefits, contingent appropriations, capital projects, and specified employer retirement shares. The sports complex project was recorded as a discrete fund (recreation and culture) with an appropriation of $56,005,000. The court completed a vote on the ordinance after discussion and approved the reading and adoption as presented.
The action satisfies the statutory requirement under KRS Chapter 68 for adopting and making the county budget available for public inspection.
