District data team details AI use, aims to expand teacher access and data culture

Jessica Grama Chino, a JS Wilson Middle School teacher who attended the summit, said she learned to apply AI to create individualized plans and to use assessment data from IXL and MAP “to uncover curricular instructional gaps.” She told the board she will present material to teachers in October as the district pilots AI tools for classroom use.
Hillary Geroline and other presenters said the summit reinforced the value of cross-school collaboration and practical frameworks for training teachers to apply data in instruction. The presenters described the nonprofit TeachAI as a resource they are using to support district implementation.
Presenters said the district has formed a districtwide data team and plans short- and long-term goals that include: giving teachers better access to data, engaging parents and community members in data reporting, vetting data-warehousing software, and eventually hosting a district data summit. The group also described efforts to desegregate data by subgroup to identify discipline and achievement disparities and to use data-driven conversations to support teacher growth.
The presentation was informational; no board action was required. Presenters asked the board to consider additional data accessibility for teachers and to support pilot efforts for AI tools and internal professional development.
District officials said the team will return with more information about recommended data tools and timelines for rollout, including summer training already scheduled for some initiatives.
