The Daviess County Board of Commissioners on June 9 voted unanimously to adopt recent revisions to the Advisory Planning Commission (APC) zoning ordinance related to solar development, and a commissioner asked to be recorded as supporting the changes.
The vote follows a recent APC meeting in which the advisory panel unanimously recommended the ordinance amendments to the board. Commissioners described the process as a quick turnaround with substantial input from stakeholders.
"There was an APC meeting, and then the commissioners met, afterwards to approve the amendments," said Commissioner Keith during discussion. The chair recorded a motion to approve the APC zoning ordinance revisions; the motion carried by a 3-0 voice vote.
Commissioners praised the collaborative effort: "It was a quick turnaround on getting that done, but I was really positive everyone, really helped out and gave their input. And as Nathan mentioned, it's been unanimous both in the advisory planning commission and in in front of this board," one commissioner said.
The board did not enumerate the specific ordinance language changes during the public portion of the meeting; staff indicated the amendments had already cleared the APC and the commissioners and that the vote recorded a commissioner''s desire to be included as supporting the revisions.
The board recorded the motion as unanimous, 3-0, and no further action was taken at the meeting on related zoning items.
