Virginia Beach School Board approves personnel report, names four administrators

The Virginia Beach School Board on June 3, 2025, voted unanimously to approve a personnel report that included four administrative appointments, the board chair announced at a special meeting in the school board chamber.

The appointments were presented by Dr. Robertson, a school division staff member, who said the board had accepted recommendations for Catherine Gadzinsky, Christina Lang, Dr. Whitney Zook and Dominica Worsley. "I'm pleased that tonight you've accepted a recommendation for Catherine Gadzinsky, currently an admin assistant at Virginia Beach Middle School, former finalist for teacher of the year in the city, to be the next assistant principal at Old Donations School," Dr. Robertson said. She also introduced Christina Lang, currently an admin assistant at Bayside High School, as the next assistant principal at Bayside Middle School; Dr. Whitney Zook, currently an assistant principal at Bayside High School, as the next principal at Larkspur Middle School; and Dominica Worsley, currently a health services nursing specialist in the office of student leadership, as the next coordinator of health services in the office of student leadership.

The motion to approve the June 3, 2025, personnel report and administrative appointments was moved by Mr. Callan and seconded by Ms. Dwyer. The clerk reported an 11-0 vote in favor; the chair announced the motion passed.

The board took no additional public discussion on the appointments during the open session. The special meeting had been called specifically to consider the personnel report and related administrative actions and to permit the board to enter a closed session for personnel matters as allowed under the Code of Virginia.

The approvals are effective as listed on the June 3 personnel report; the meeting record does not specify individual effective dates, salary details, or other contract terms for the appointees.
