Board rates superintendent proficient, CFO accomplished and approves merit-based contract changes

The Trussville City Schools Board of Education approved contract resolutions for its superintendent and chief school financial officer after receiving public evaluation results presented by an outside facilitator.
April Crane Moore of the Alabama Association of School Boards presented the superintendent’s and CSFO’s evaluation results. The board rated Superintendent Dr. Martin overall as "proficient," with a top score of "accomplished" in strategic leadership, and rated CSFO Jim Kirkland overall as "accomplished." Crane Moore said the ratings reflect the board’s assessment across leadership, instructional, fiscal and personnel areas.
Board members moved and seconded resolutions to update both leaders’ contracts, including merit-based raises to take effect Oct. 1; board members said Mr. Colvin drafted the contract language. Both resolutions were approved on voice votes with no recorded opposing votes.
Crane Moore reminded the board that, by law, evaluations for superintendent and CSFO are presented in public and that the process is intended to provide constructive feedback. The board noted appreciation for the results and for the district’s leadership team; no dissent was recorded during the contract votes.
