Fire chief: ImageTrend implementation and ambulance billing affect EMS budget

At the June 9 Port Washington Police and Fire Commission meeting, Fire Chief Joe DeBoer reviewed EMS invoices for April and May and explained how onboarding fees for the new ImageTrend reporting software are affecting this year’s expenses.
Chief DeBoer said some of the higher charges this year are one-time onboarding and implementation fees from ImageTrend and that the cost is split between EMS and fire budgets because the platform supports both functions. He noted the EMS portion is the “lion’s share” of the contract cost because of the software features purchased for EMS recordkeeping; the fire portion covers inspection and fire-reporting modules.
The chief also told commissioners the ambulance-billing vendor had overbilled the department and that the city expects a billing credit next month. He explained that ambulance billing fees appear as a debit on the department’s account while the actual revenue posts to the general fund.
