The Solon Board of Education on June 9 approved adoption of recommended textbooks for Grade 7 and 8 Chinese and for AP Biology.
Board members and curriculum reviewers said the AP Biology book in use had not been updated in 12 years. Board member Glavin thanked the curriculum committee and noted a board member’s spouse reviewed the AP book’s content. The board emphasized that AP course materials must align with current learning objectives because AP exam questions are derived from those objectives.
The motion to adopt the textbooks was moved by Mrs. Parksdale and seconded by Mr. Patton; roll call recorded approval by the board. Curriculum committee members and reviewers provided written documentation included in the board packet, and the approved adoption was described as a routine but important update to keep college‑level coursework aligned with current standards.
