The Town of Sahuarita Town Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2025-0829, amending the personnel policy manual to add two paid holidays and expand critical care leave.
Acting Human Resources Director Liliana Soto presented the changes, telling the council the amendments add two holidays (Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve on the town paperwork) and increase the defined critical care leave from 24 to 30 hours. She also said the town will change the floating-holiday accrual to annual loading at the beginning of the year instead of monthly.
Council members clarified a typographical ambiguity in the packet about the New Year's holiday. “Do we mean December 31 or January 31?” one council member asked; staff confirmed the intent and paperwork list December 31.
A councilmember moved to adopt the resolution as corrected; the motion passed unanimously. The record shows the council approved the personnel policy changes by voice vote.
Staff said the changes were discussed at the council retreat and are intended to support work–life balance and make the town more competitive as an employer.
