SCFD reports modest sales-tax revenue increase; eligibility applications open through Sept. 10

At the May 21 Jefferson County Cultural Council meeting, SCFD staff reported March 2025 sales-and-use tax receipts and reminded the council that eligibility applications for SCFD funding are open through Sept. 10.
Kirsten, a program officer with the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District (SCFD), told the Jefferson County Cultural Council on May 21 that March 2025 sales-and-use tax receipts totaled $7,349,484.25 and that year-to-date receipts for 2025 were $19,958,384.05 — an increase of $388,370.43, or 1.9%, compared with the same period in 2024.
Kirsten also noted that at its April 22 board meeting the SCFD board approved resolution 25-03 pertaining to the 2025 Tier 3 budget distribution and said the SCFD board would meet again on May 22 at the Denver Zoo. She reminded prospective applicants that eligibility applications are open through Wednesday, Sept. 10, and that the SCFD offices would be closed on Monday, May 26 for Memorial Day.
The SCFD report was provided as context for the council’s grant allocation discussion; revenue and board action affect the funding available for Tier 3 awards and the timing of SCFD-related decisions. Council members thanked staff for the revenue summary before moving to the council’s agenda items.
