County manager reports: level-3 EV chargers due, budget timeline, rising gaming revenue and staffing changes

Gilpin County’s manager highlighted several operational items at the May 27 Board of County Commissioners meeting, including imminent installation of level-3 electric vehicle chargers, timeline updates for the FY2026 budget process, a staffing update and anticipated additional gaming revenue.
The manager said the level-3 EV chargers should be installed by the end of the week and that a ribbon-cutting is tentatively planned for the evening of June 5. The chargers are the fastest (level-3) along the Peak-to-Peak Highway, staff said, and county officials said the installation will help residents and visitors with long-distance travel and EV adoption.
On budgeting, the manager outlined a timetable: departments submit budget requests June 9–July 17; manager-department head meetings July 21–Aug. 21; draft budget presented to the board Sept. 23; departmental review and final hearings in October; tentative adoption in a special meeting on Dec. 15 to accommodate mill levy deadlines.
The manager provided a memo reporting consolidated digital gaming revenue budgeted at $15,954,727 for the year and said the trend through nine months suggests an anticipated increase of approximately $653,146, though three months remain in the fiscal year.
Staff also noted that the community director position is posted after Community Development Director Rob Gutierrez accepted an opportunity outside the county. Starting in June, meeting packets will be shorter online and staff will provide printed copies on request to comply with new digital accessibility rules effective July 1.
Commissioners did not take action on these items; they were presented for information and future follow-up.
