Grand County commissioners on Tuesday authorized the chair to sign and to allow a county natural‑resources employee to submit electronically a five‑year Bureau of Land Management (BLM) funding application for noxious‑weed control on BLM lands.
Mike Benson, assistant county manager, presented the request on behalf of Amy Seidner, Natural Resources foreman. Benson said the agreement spans five years and would provide approximately $10,000 per year for weed‑spraying on BLM properties — a total of roughly $50,000 over the five‑year period.
The county’s request was twofold: authorize the chair to sign the application form and authorize Seidner to submit the application electronically and to provide any additional required electronic signatures during the submission process. Staff said the application is filed electronically but a wet signature is required when the application is downloaded for filing; Seidner will upload a signed copy as part of the process.
Commissioners approved both motions by voice vote. Supporters told the commission this is similar to weed‑management agreements the county has executed in previous years.
The vote allows the county to pursue BLM funding for on‑the‑ground invasive‑plant control and for staff to complete necessary electronic signature steps during submittal.
