Gilpin County commissioners voted on May 27 to accept a 2025–26 Substance Abuse Block Grant in the amount of $165,000.
Presenting staff said this is the county’s sixth year receiving the block grant; the award increased from a typical $150,000 to $165,000 for the 2025–26 period, which runs July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. The resolution also authorized the chair to sign the contract once it is finalized and reviewed by legal.
Staff noted the contract itself had not yet been received but that the county routinely files for and executes the grant each year. Commissioners asked if there were questions; none were raised, and the board approved the resolution 25-066 by a 3-0 vote.
The county indicated the grant supports ongoing substance-abuse programming; staff earlier discussed coordination with youth programs and prevention work under separate grant awards.
