Boulder County planning commission backs Westview Church daycare with traffic conditions

The Boulder County Planning Commission voted 6-0 Wednesday to recommend conditional approval of Docket SU-24-0006, a special-use request to allow a daycare center at Westview Church, 6710 Arapahoe Road, but commissioners imposed traffic- and access-related conditions before the case goes to the Board of County Commissioners.

Commissioners recommended the Board of County Commissioners require that the applicant submit an updated transportation study addressing operations and level-of-service at Westview Drive and Arapahoe Road, the distribution of traffic on Westview Drive, and the location of the driveway/parking access, and that the study be reviewed by staff before the BOCC hearing. They also recommended capping enrollment at 50 children.

Staff described the application as a special-use request to permit a daycare use in an existing church building. Pete LaRonge, Community Planning and Permitting staff, told the commission: "This is DocketSU-twentyFour-six Westview Church Daycare Center at 6710 Arapaho Road." The applicants propose a pre-K/childcare program operated by Sojourneys Academy with a maximum enrollment of 50 students and eight staff, operating weekdays, and using roughly half the church’s floor area.
