Kittitas County commissioners authorized acceptance of a Washington State Department of Ecology grant on May 20 to cover interim expenses related to Springwood Ranch. The board was told the county will hold the grant and disburse funds to other landowners with eligible expenses.
The county’s public works presenter said Kittitas County, along with other Springwood Ranch landowners — identified in the meeting as KRD, Yakima Nation and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife — requested Ecology funding to cover interim expenses over a one-year period. “I do want to be really clear that the 740,000 that will be awarded to Kittitas County, we are going we we share with Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Yakima Nation, and KRD. They needed 1 entity to hold the grant,” the presenter said.
The presenter also said other landowners will receive funds for cultural resources investigations and irrigation bills. The board approved the resolution to accept Ecology funding and to authorize signature on the funding agreement number WRYBIP-2325-KICPWDD-00072 as part of the consent agenda vote.
