Kittitas County accepts CRAB project agreements and OKs interlocal for fish screen on Judge Ronald Road

Kittitas County Public Works staff told commissioners the county must sign program-project agreements to receive County Road Administration Board rural arterial funds for two road projects, and presented an interlocal agreement with the City of Ellensburg to install and maintain a fish screen in the county right of way.

Cameron Curtis, Public Works, told the commissioners the Reeser Creek Road project requires a signed program-project agreement to obtain a portion of rural arterial funding the county was notified had been made available. “Public Works applied for…through their rural arterial program to replace the bridge on Reeser Creek Road over the town ditch,” Curtis said.

Curtis also briefed the board on the Hungry Junction Road improvements, noting that funding was originally awarded in 2021 and the current agreement represents an amendment and the final piece of funding available through the rural arterial program. Finally, Curtis described an interlocal with the City of Ellensburg to allow installation and maintenance of a fish screen in the county right of way on Judge Ronald Road. He said the city had obtained permits through the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and agreed to maintain and operate the screen to Public Works’ satisfaction.

All three items were included on the meeting’s consent agenda and presented by Public Works; the consent agenda was approved by the commissioners during the June 3 meeting. Curtis clarified the Reeser Creek agreement would be transmitted electronically in final form.

The items affect county transportation infrastructure and a water-management structure on Judge Ronald Road; no separate public hearing was scheduled and no further county action was recorded beyond approval on consent.
