Commissioners proposed topics including: permitting efficiency and the county’s dual intake platforms (Camino and SmartGov); monitoring and evaluation of existing regulations to measure effectiveness; affordable and senior (55+) independent living housing shortages; preservation and adaptive reuse incentives to retain older housing stock; public participation improvements and earlier‑stage draft review cycles; and stewardship and volunteer support for parks.
Commissioners asked staff to compile the suggestions and circulate a draft that the commission will review at a subsequent meeting before sending a recommended list to the Board of County Commissioners. Chair Allen Beam and staff emphasized the board will set the joint meeting agenda, and commissioners acknowledged that any substantive new work would require staff time and would need to be incorporated into the Planning Commission work plan.
