Kitsap Public Health to begin distributing mandatory food-safety inspection signs; posting required by July 1

Kitsap Public Health District staff announced May 20 that the district will begin distributing new food-safety inspection signs to permitted food establishments; businesses must post the signs in customer-visible locations beginning July 1.
Administrator Yolanda Fong told the board the signs reflect a campaign the board reviewed the prior May and that they will display an establishment’s average inspection score over the last two years. “The signs are required to be posted in a location where customers can easily see them starting July 1,” Fong said.
Distribution to permit holders will occur over the coming weeks; Fong acknowledged some establishments may not receive and post signs by the July 1 date but said the public should begin to see them shortly after distribution begins. The campaign is intended to increase public awareness of inspection scores and aligns with similar programs in neighboring counties.
No board action was required; the announcement was presented as an administrative update and staff offered to answer business or board questions about implementation and timing.
