Troy Baseball Parents seek city support to renovate Market Street Field; board asks for formal plans

Members of Troy Baseball Parents asked the Troy Board of Park Commissioners on June 9 for the city’s support and permission to proceed with planned improvements to Market Street Field.
Lisa Sargent, treasurer of Troy Baseball Parents, said the group received a donation in 2023 and has raised additional funds since then. “We’ve raised additional monies. We’ve been working with Level MB to talk about the plan and, you know, we would be ready to do some work, this maybe fall, if we had the support and permission of the city,” Sargent said. She said Level MB is preparing drawings and that the group expects to solicit bids and seek donations for labor and materials.
Board members responded that they are generally supportive but asked the parents to work through parks staff for guidance and permitting requirements. One board member said the commission has adopted a phased approach on similar projects and recommended the group coordinate with staff and return with drawings and a formal presentation. Jeremy, a parks staff member, asked the parents to provide an updated status and drawings so staff can advise on regulations and the bidding process.
No formal action was taken. The board requested the parents coordinate with Jeremy and return to the board with updated drawings and a project timeline; the board also offered to publicize the renovation effort once plans are formalized.
