Willard celebrates Class of 2025; MCPS assistant superintendent certifies graduates

Missoula ' Willard held a graduation ceremony for the Class of 2025 where Amy Shaddock, assistant superintendent for Missoula County Public Schools, formally certified the graduates as having met the graduation requirements for the state of Montana.
The certification came during a ceremony that included remarks from Mayor Andrea Davis, a student speech by Kevin Minor, music from the MCPS drum group and honor singers, and recognition of staff and families that supported the students.
The certification by Amy Shaddock signaled the district's formal recognition of the students' completion of state requirements. "By the power vested in me by the Missoula County Board of Public Schools, I hereby certify these graduates as having met the graduation requirements for the state of Montana. Congratulations, class of 2025," Shaddock said.
Mayor Andrea Davis addressed the graduates and their families, urging students to value community and to "be kind, but be bold," and telling them, "You made it." Davis described Willard as "a reflection of Missoula's diversity, creativity, resilience, and heart" and encouraged graduates to bring their ideas and voices to the city.
Student speaker Kevin Minor described his path to Willard and credited the school's staff and environment for helping him remain engaged and finish. "I applied to this school for the opportunity in being able to graduate and better my future," Minor said, and thanked individual staff members by name for support he received.
Principal Cameron Johnson opened the ceremony by welcoming graduates, families and community members and thanked staff for their work. The program also included the playing of the national anthem, an honor song performed by MCPS singers and drum group, and a slideshow of senior photos and baby pictures as graduates were recognized on stage.
Assistant Superintendent Shaddock read the formal certification aloud before Ben Martin read the names of the graduates. The ceremony closed with reminders that seniors were invited back to the school the next day for a post-graduation celebration with food and activities.
The district recorded the ceremony through Missoula Community Access Television (MCAT); the recording was noted as available on demand.
