Board approves ownership interest adjustments at Max’s Grill (d/b/a Max’s Tavern)

The Springfield Board of License Commissioners on May 20 approved a petition from Max Hospitality to record minor ownership-interest adjustments affecting Max’s Grill LLC, d/b/a Max’s Tavern at 1000 Hall of Fame Avenue. The changes concern corporate stock redemptions in 2023 and a 2024 allocation of small ownership percentages to long‑standing employees.
Attorney Rachel Fancy told the commission that two or three stockholders had their shares redeemed in 2023, and that in 2024 the company granted small equity stakes to several long‑time employees. Fancy characterized the changes as housekeeping that does not alter management control or the restaurant’s operations, hours or flow of business.
Commissioners asked questions and, finding the representation that operations will remain the same, approved the change of ownership interest for 2023 and 2024. The motion passed with recorded yes votes from Commissioner Cade, Commissioner D'Angelantonio, Commissioner Ramirez and Commissioner Espinosa. The licensing office will update its records to reflect the ownership filings.
No conditions or operational changes were imposed. Fancy said similar documentation would be filed with neighboring jurisdictions where the company operates.
