The Legislative Fiscal Office told the Joint Subcommittee on Human Services on June 5 that Senate Bill 5,527 is a fee-ratification bill for providers serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and recommended adoption of the dash-1 amendment clarifying the fees apply only to IDD providers.
“On April 9, the subcommittee held a public hearing on this bill, and there was no public testimony for or against the measure,” LFO staff reported, adding that “these fees have already been implemented” and the bill ratifies fees that providers are already paying.
Why it matters: The measure codifies or ratifies fee increases and application and renewal fees for certain residential and adult foster home providers serving IDD populations. Ratification affects the legal authorization for the fees and ensures legislative review of revenue that supports licensing and oversight of IDD providers.
Action taken: The subcommittee adopted the dash-1 amendment and moved SB 5,527 as amended to the Ways and Means Full Committee with a due-pass recommendation. Committee members recorded no objections during the work session.
Ending: The LFO recommended the measure be moved to full committee; the subcommittee complied and assigned floor managers for the House and Senate.
