Rebecca Treadway, executive director of The Arc Northwest Mississippi, told the Olive Branch Board of Aldermen at their June 2025 meeting that the nonprofit’s Camp Bull summer program and job‑readiness efforts have expanded and now draw participants from outside the county.
Treadway said the nonprofit helped a nonverbal 6‑year‑old student at Center Hill Elementary after the child’s mother died, worked with a grandmother and school staff to connect the child to services, and that the organization’s programs have grown to include a summer jobs program that places 60 young people with 21 local businesses.
The Arc Northwest Mississippi advocates for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Treadway said, and provides social programs, job training and summer camp services. “I have 8 people who don't even live in our area,” Treadway said, referring to participants who drive from nearby towns such as Bartlett, Collierville and Memphis to take part in programming. She said the nonprofit also helped a participant transition from camper to counselor and into employment at the Pleasant Hill Cafeteria.
Board members thanked Treadway and praised the organization’s growth and local partnerships. Treadway invited aldermen and others to visit Camp Bull and noted the program’s first day was under way that morning.
The presentation was informational; no formal board action was taken on the item.
