The city appropriated its annual Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding—about $377,934—to support affordable housing and public-service programs.
Allison Haid, who leads the Community Partnership Office, told council the Human Services Commission and the Affordable Housing Commission had already made funding recommendations for five public-service grants and four brick-and-mortar grants; final allocations will be reflected in an annual action plan to be submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Haid said there is also approximately $205,000 in unspent CDBG funds from prior years that could be allocated this summer.
Decision: Council approved the supplemental appropriation on first reading. Staff said the annual action plan and grant allocations will return in July (or August if processing takes longer) and will then be forwarded to HUD.
