The Facilities Committee received a recommendation Thursday to award bid 2533 for replacement of a domestic water backflow preventer and sump pump at Churchill Elementary School to Hirschberg Mechanical for $43,400.
Justin Mendez, supervisor of facilities, told the committee the district received five bids on May 29 and recommended Hirschberg Mechanical for the scope that includes the backflow preventer replacement and sump pump work. Mendez showed photos of the existing sump pump and backflow location and said the sump pit is in the boiler room and that the pump was no longer working, allowing water to build up around the backflow device.
Mendez said, "The recommended award would be to Hirschberg Mechanical at $43,400." Board members had no substantive objections and the item was slated to go on the consent agenda for the full board.
