Cannon County approves engineering contract, grant application and two board appointments; commissioner vacancy noted

The Cannon County Commission on June 5 approved several administrative actions: awarding an architectural/engineering contract to Saint John Engineering, authorizing an application for Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) outdoor recreation planning grant funds, and confirming appointments to two local boards. Commissioners also noted a vacancy after a First District commissioner moved out of the district.
Commissioners voted to approve resolution "20 25 dash 5" (as read at the meeting) to award the contract for architectural and engineering services for a county facility (presented at the meeting as the emergency operations center / DOC). The solicitation process used requests for qualifications (RFQs) and the presenter said Saint John Engineering was the selected firm. The motion to approve the contract passed by roll call.
The commission also approved resolution "20 25 dash 6" to apply for TDEC outdoor recreation planning grant funds. Meeting presenters described those planning grants as funds intended to support feasibility studies, site evaluations and community needs assessments to position projects for larger construction funding opportunities.
Separately, the commission approved an appointment of Beth Aquari (presented at meeting as “Beth Aquari”) to the Adams Memorial Library Board of Trustees and confirmed Greg Mitchell as a member of the regional solid waste board. Commissioners recorded the roll-call votes for each appointment.
The commission’s chair announced that Commissioner Luna (identified at the meeting as "Mr. Luna") had moved out of the district and therefore vacated the First District seat; the commission said it will begin the process to fill that vacancy.
