Samuel Yudak on June 5 read a letter into the record stating he was appointing himself to the Democratic Party seat on the Monroe County Election Board effective June 5 through June 30, 2025, and saying a permanent appointment would be submitted no later than June 30.

After the letter was read, a board member moved to add the letter to the record and another member seconded; the board approved the addition by voice vote.

The letter, read aloud by Yudak, said in part: “this letter serves as notice that on 06/05/2025, I’m appointing myself to the democratic party seat on the Monroe County election board effective through 06/30/2025. A formal notice of a permanent appointee will be made to county staff no later than that date.” The chair accepted the letter for the minutes and the board recorded the action.

The board took no further formal action on the permanent appointment at the June 5 meeting.
