Board approves personnel packet including pay scales, supplements and new positions

The DeSoto County School District Board approved the personnel packet presented at the meeting, which contained multiple staffing and pay recommendations across many school and district programs.

Staff summarized the packet contents by page number: pages 1–5 included routine personnel recommendations; pages 6–8 listed changes; page 9 set the 2025–26 salary scale for directors, assistant superintendents and chief academic officers; page 10 listed the 2025–26 principal salary scale. Subsequent pages included assistant principal schedules, JROTC instructor salaries, substitute pay rates, background and key-fob replacement fees, facility-use employee payments, and multiple requests for supplemental pay for staff who work directly with students at specialized programs.

The packet also included requests for additional teaching units at specific schools, new nursing supervisor and nursing positions to ensure each school building has nursing coverage, additional full-time computer technician and part-time construction supervisor positions, and a temporary data support position in transportation from June 6–Dec. 31 funded by the department. Several items proposed specific supplemental pay amounts and percentage increases for roles at alternative programs and student support sites; staff presented those memos during the meeting.

Staff recommended approval of the personnel items and the board approved the packet by motion and voice vote. The board did not vote on each individual page item separately on the record; staff described the items by page number and requested approval of the packet.
